VERMONT HICKORY OPEN (17TH ANNUAL)

The Vermont Hickory Golf Association is pleased to announce that this year’s Vermont Hickory Open will be a two day metal (stroke) play event featuring four divisions: the Open division (any age or gender), the Senior division, (60 years of age or older), the Statesmen division (70 years of age or older), and a Women’s division. Both low gross and low net in each division will be acknowledged. A division must have a minimum of four competitors for the low gross winner’s name to be engraved on the Vermont VHO trophy.

VENUE: The 2024 VHO will return to the Brattleboro Country Club, in Brattleboro, Vermont which was the venue for the 2022 & 2023 VHO. The course is a mix of the original golf course design in 1914 by Tom McNamara, a three time US Open runner up, which was redesigned in 1930 by Wayne Stiles, and an expansion, with some re-routing of play, in 2000 by Steve Durkee.

DATES: The 17th annual Vermont Hickory Open will be contested on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday, August 11th. Green fees and a cart are included in the registration. Practice rounds are not included in the registration fee. Please call the pro shop at BCC to schedule your practice round 802-257-7380.

SCHEDULE OF PLAY: Play will be by tee times; the first tee time is expected to be at 10:00 am each day. There is a restaurant with both inside and outside seating where we may gather for refreshments after play each day. Food is not included but is available al la carte. We expect to have table space available after play each day for club swap, trade, buy or sell.

RULES OF PLAY:The Society of Hickory Golf rules will apply. See the Society of Hickory Golf web site at https//www:hickorygolfers.com and look for guidelines under the tournament tab. Play must be with a hickory shafted clubs manufactured before December 31, 1934 or with Society of Hickory golf approved reproductions. There is no limit to the number of clubs allowed in your bag. Cell phone GPS and/or other distance measuring devices are not permitted during tournament play. Local rules will be made available before start of play.

RESERVATION NOTE: Summer in Vermont is incredibly popular, and for good reasons. We strongly suggest you make reservations quite early (late spring at the latest if possible), particularly for rooms.

REGISTRATION FEE: The registration form is available at the Vermont Hickory Golf Association website https//www.vthga.org. Click on the Events tab and then on the 2024 Vermont Hickory Open tab. The registration fee is $150.00. As indicated above, golf carts and practice rounds are not included in the fee but can be arranged directly with the pro shop (802-257-7380).

Brattleboro is located in the southeast corner of Vermont; Interstate 91 passes through Brattleboro. Amtrak’s Vermonter providing rail service service between St. Albans, VT and Washington, D.C. stops in Brattleboro once daily northbound and once daily southbound. Greyhound Bus provides service throughout the country to and from Brattleboro. Air travel is available via Bradley International Airport, BDL, (Windsor Locks, CT), Manchester, NH regional airport, and Boston’s Logan International Airport.
